COMPASS manages an easily accessible and flexible financial resource for professionals aiding domestic abuse victims and survivors through the Essex Safe Start Fund (ESSF). This is funded by Essex County Council, Southend City Council and Thurrock Council and the approved providers are Safe Steps, Next Chapter, Changing Pathways, Safer Places and Thurrock Safeguarding.
Funds can be used to cover the costs related to domestic abuse and includes providing security at home, refuge, transport, emergency relocation, communication and much more. The objective of the ESSF is to remove barriers that clients might face relating to maintaining or accessing safe accommodation.
